Who was Haggai?
Haggai was a prophet among people who had returned from exile. He encouraged them to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem. His messages belong to that community's particular work and discouragement.
Haggai encouraged leaders and people to be strong and work together. The message addresses a shared responsibility rather than demanding that one person do everything.
