Who was Joab?
Joab was a military commander during David's reign. He played a major part in conflicts and royal decisions. The accounts include both service to the king and serious violence and wrongdoing.
Joab's involvement in David's order about Uriah shows how carrying out a powerful person's instruction can still cause grave harm. Authority does not make a harmful order good.
