Meet Nabal.

Abigail's husband in David's story.

Nabal: a quiet historically appropriate setting for Abigail's husband in David's story, with simple understated contextual details; no invented dramatic event

Who was Nabal?

Nabal was a wealthy man married to Abigail. First Samuel describes him as harsh and badly behaved. His insulting response to David's request helped create a dangerous conflict.

Abigail acted to prevent David's violent retaliation after Nabal's response. The story does not make her responsible for fixing every harmful choice made by the adults around her.

Nabal turning away from David's messengers beside gathered provisions and sheep, stern refusal, no violence.
