Meet Vashti.

A queen who refuses a royal demand.

Vashti: a quiet historically appropriate setting for A queen who refuses a royal demand, with simple understated contextual details; no invented dramatic event

Who was Vashti?

Vashti was queen in the Persian court at the beginning of Esther. She refused the king's demand to appear before his guests. The account does not give her own explanation for that refusal.

Vashti's refusal led to a decision removing her as queen. It should not become a lesson that people must obey degrading or unsafe demands just because someone has authority.

Vashti calmly declining a messenger's request in a palace doorway, dignified composed posture, modest royal clothes, no humiliation.
