What you’ll need
Printer, paper, colouring pencils or crayons. An adult reader may be helpful for younger children.
Time & preparation

Check the file before you print for a group, and allow for any extra help the kids might need.
Printing tipsThe story behind the craft
Bible passage: Matthew 14:22–33
Peter asks to come to Jesus across the water. He steps out at Jesus’ invitation, becomes afraid of the wind and begins to sink; he cries for help, and Jesus catches him.
Main takeaway: Peter’s fear becomes a moment to ask for help rather than hide his need.
While you colour the panels
Read the panels in order, pausing at a change in a character’s action or understanding.
Follow stepping out, noticing the wind, calling and being caught. No water-risk or balance challenge is needed to explore the meaning.
Younger learners can describe an action in one panel. Older learners can compare a caption with its Bible passage and discuss what a short comic leaves out.
Questions to explore
- What drew Peter’s attention away?
- What did he say when he needed help?
- Why is asking for help a wise response to fear?
