Bible verses for children

Grace in the middle of weakness.

2 Corinthians 12:9

Paul, a Mediterranean man with receding dark hair and short beard in an ochre tunic and blue cloak, rests tiredly on a bench in a modest first-century room while a trusted companion offers water and sits with him
He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

Paul receives reassurance that Christ’s grace is enough within his weakness. Help does not always mean a difficulty disappears. Weakness does not make someone unusable, unloved or less worthy of care.

Ask for support with a lasting difficulty rather than hiding it to appear strong.

Talk about it

What kind of help can matter when a difficulty remains?

Bible context & readings +

Second Corinthians 12:7–10 describes Paul’s repeated request about a “thorn,” whose exact nature is not identified. The answer concerns grace amid it, not a command to refuse treatment or celebrate every painful experience.
