Bible verses for children

A heart able to respond.

Ezekiel 36:26

Two simple symbolic hearts on a quiet wooden table: a cold rough stone heart on the left and a warm soft red fabric heart on the right, with a new green shoot nearby
I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.

Ezekiel 36:26 · World English Bible Classic (WEB)

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

Stone pictures stubborn unresponsiveness; living flesh pictures a heart ready to respond. God promises inward renewal. The image concerns attitudes and conduct, not needing a different physical heart.

When you realise you hurt someone, listen rather than closing yourself off from their feelings.

Talk about it

What helps you become more willing to change?

Bible context & readings +

Ezekiel 36:16–38 speaks of Israel’s cleansing and restoration, including a new spirit and renewed obedience. The heart contrast belongs to that promise and does not describe some people as less human.
