Bible verses for children

Wait with the patience of a farmer.

James 5:7

A patient farmer in a simple tunic tends a field with young seedlings, a few mature grain stalks at the far end and soft rain clouds in the distance
Be patient therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receives the early and late rain.

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

A farmer prepares and tends the ground but cannot hurry every stage of growth. James uses this image for patient hope. Patience can include meaningful work while waiting, not simply doing nothing.

Care steadily for a plant or skill and notice what cannot be rushed.

Bible context & readings +

James 5:7–11 encourages believers facing hardship as they wait for the Lord. The farmer follows warnings about injustice; patience does not mean approving oppression or refusing appropriate help.
