In simple words
What does this verse mean?
Born anew can also carry the sense of born from above. Jesus speaks about life renewed by God’s Spirit, not a person becoming a baby again. Nicodemus’ questions help unfold the meaning.

John 3:1–8 records Jesus’ conversation with Nicodemus. His literal question about birth leads to teaching about the Spirit. The passage should be read as a conversation rather than a disconnected slogan.
