Bible verses for children

Bread that points to life with Jesus.

John 6:35

Jesus sits at a simple outdoor table with a round loaf of bread in his open hands, two listeners attentive nearby
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will not be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

Bread sustains ordinary life. Jesus uses it to describe himself as the source of lasting life for those who come to him. His picture does not remove the importance of feeding hungry people.

Think about something needed every day and how a relationship also needs continuing attention.

Talk about it

How does bread help explain dependence and nourishment?

Bible context & readings +

John 6 moves from feeding a crowd to discussion of bread from heaven. Verse 35 identifies Jesus within that teaching; the hunger and thirst language is spiritual imagery rather than denial of bodily needs.
