Bible verses for children
Think about it, then live it.
Joshua 1:8

This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.

In simple words
What does this verse mean?
Meditating on God’s teaching means returning to it and thinking carefully about what it means. Joshua is told to speak about it and put it into practice. Reading without listening to its meaning would miss the point. “Day and night” describes steady attention, not never sleeping.
After reading a verse about kind words, think of a conversation you will have today. Understanding the verse includes trying to speak kindly in that conversation.

God is preparing Joshua to lead Israel after Moses’ death. The book of the law is to guide his leadership. The words about success belong to this commission; they are not a promise that Bible reading will make someone wealthy or guarantee high marks.
