Bible verses for children

Courage for a difficult task.

Joshua 1:9

Joshua: standing beside the Jordan with a quiet distant camp
Haven’t I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 1:9 · World English Bible Classic (WEB)

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

Joshua faces a big responsibility, and God tells him to be strong and courageous. His courage is connected with God’s presence and instruction. Being brave does not mean pretending a task is easy or refusing help. We can take a faithful next step even when we feel nervous.

If you need to tell the truth about a mistake, you can ask a trusted adult to sit with you. Courage can look like an honest conversation with support.

Bible context & readings +

Joshua 1 begins after Moses has died. God calls Joshua to lead the people across the Jordan and to follow his teaching. This promise was spoken to Joshua in that setting; it is not a guarantee that every challenge we choose will end in victory.
