In simple words
What does this verse mean?
Jesus describes his mission as service and giving his life. Ransom is an image of release at great cost. His saving work is not a demand that children put themselves in danger.
Use a strength you have to help someone rather than to control them.

Bible context & readings +
Mark 10:35–45 follows disciples seeking places of honour. Jesus contrasts domination with service and explains his own mission. The ransom image belongs to his self-giving, not ordinary pressure to sacrifice safety.
