In simple words
What does this verse mean?
To bless someone is to ask for or speak of good for them. “Keep you” means guard or care for you. This verse begins a blessing for Israel that continues with God’s gracious face and peace. It is a prayerful blessing, not a magic phrase that stops every difficult thing.
You might pray for someone before they begin a journey or a difficult day. Your words can express care, and practical help can go alongside them.
