Bible verses for children

A kind word for a worried heart.

Proverbs 12:25

One child encouraging another who is learning to balance small building blocks
Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but a kind word makes it glad.

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

Anxiety can feel like a weight inside. A good word can bring comfort by showing that someone notices and cares. We do not have to find a clever answer; listening and offering company may be more helpful than promising everything will be fine.

You could say, “That sounds hard. Would you like to talk?” If a worry keeps troubling someone, help them speak with a trusted adult.

Bible context & readings +

The proverb uses the picture of a weighed-down heart to describe anxiety and the lift that a good word can bring. It recognises the effect of caring speech without claiming that one sentence will cure persistent distress.
