Bible verses for children

Small actions show what matters.

Proverbs 20:11

A child carefully caring for a borrowed plant, checking its soil with a small watering jug nearby
Even a child makes himself known by his doings, whether his work is pure, and whether it is right.

Proverbs 20:11 · World English Bible Classic (WEB)

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

Children’s actions matter and can show care, honesty and fairness. The proverb invites attention to conduct, not only promises. One mistake does not reveal everything about a person; we learn through repeated choices, repair and growth.

If you say you care about sharing, show it when someone needs a turn. If you forget, apologise and try again.

Talk about it

Bible context & readings +

This saying includes children in the moral life of the community. Their deeds can be noticed as right or wrong. It should encourage meaningful responsibility, not fixed labels such as “bad child” that leave no room for learning and change.
