Bible verses for children

Think about how kindness arrives.

Proverbs 27:14

A child outside a nearby home quietly lowers their voice after noticing a neighbor still sleeping behind a half-open curtain, a trusted adult gently reminds them to be considerate
He who blesses his neighbor with a loud voice early in the morning, it will be taken as a curse by him.

Proverbs 27:14 · World English Bible Classic (WEB)

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

A loud blessing sounds positive, but early in the morning it may disturb a sleeping neighbour. The proverb shows that intention is not the whole story. Timing, volume and the other person’s needs affect whether an action feels considerate.

If you want to surprise someone with a cheerful greeting, first notice whether they are resting or concentrating. A quieter greeting may be kinder.

Talk about it

When might a good intention need a different time or approach?

Bible context & readings +

This proverb uses an exaggerated early-morning greeting to teach social awareness. A blessing being received like a curse is the surprising contrast. The lesson concerns considerate delivery, not a ban on enthusiasm or friendly greetings.
