Bible verses for children

A picture of forgiveness.

Psalm 103:12

A wide peaceful sea stretches to opposite horizons beneath a bright open sky; a child and trusted adult stand on a safe shore looking toward the vast distance
As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

Psalm 103:12 · World English Bible Classic (WEB)

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

East and west point in opposite directions. The psalm uses that great distance as a picture of God removing sins through forgiveness. It is not asking us to measure a distance on a map. Forgiveness means a real wrong need not be the whole story forever.

If you have apologised and begun putting something right, you can learn from it without calling yourself bad all day. Ask a trusted adult for help if guilt keeps troubling you.

Talk about it

How can we remember a lesson without labelling a person by their mistake?

Bible context & readings +

Psalm 103 surrounds this verse with descriptions of compassion and mercy. The distance between east and west expresses the greatness of forgiveness. It does not cancel responsibility for repairing harm or require someone who was hurt to forget what happened.
