Bible verses for children
The rejected stone becomes important.
Psalm 118:22

The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.

In simple words
What does this verse mean?
A cornerstone has an important place in a building. The psalm pictures a rejected stone becoming that important stone: what was dismissed is honoured. Jesus later uses these words about rejection. The image is more than a promise that anyone rejected will become famous.
If a group overlooks someone, notice what they can contribute and invite them in. Being left out does not tell the whole truth about a person’s worth.

Bible context & readings +
Psalm 118 gives thanks for rescue and celebrates a surprising reversal. Verses 22–23 use the building-stone picture. In Matthew 21:42 Jesus quotes it after a parable about rejected messengers and a son, giving it a further setting in the Gospel.
