Bible verses for children

Celebrate a day of help.

Psalm 118:24

A lively sparkling river flows past green hills toward sunlit mountains, dawn clouds and birds above
This is the day that Yahweh has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it!

Psalm 118:24 · World English Bible Classic (WEB)

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

The singer celebrates a day of God’s deliverance. Rejoicing is a response to that help. We can welcome good things in a day without declaring that everything happening in it is good. Sadness and gratitude can both be honest responses.

When your family or class finishes a difficult task together, pause to celebrate the help you received. Make room for anyone who still feels tired or upset.

Talk about it

What good thing could you celebrate without expecting everyone to feel the same?

Bible context & readings +

Psalm 118:19–29 is a scene of thanksgiving, welcome and praise after rescue. “This is the day” belongs to that celebration. Using it as a morning prayer can be meaningful, but it should not become a demand that someone must be cheerful.
