Bible verses for children

Glad to worship together.

Psalm 122:1

An ancient Israelite family and neighbors approach a peaceful temple courtyard with grateful faces, a few kneeling quietly in prayer, warm light and simple stone architecture
I was glad when they said to me, “Let’s go to Yahweh’s house!”

Psalm 122:1 · World English Bible Classic (WEB)

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

The singer is glad when invited to go to the house of God. Sharing worship with others can bring belonging and joy. People who cannot travel or attend a gathering still matter and can be included through visits, shared prayer and other thoughtful contact.

If you are going to a gathering, help someone feel welcome. You might also think of someone unable to come and ask an adult how to include them.

Talk about it

How can we include someone who cannot join us in person?

Bible context & readings +

Psalm 122 is a song about going to Jerusalem, where the community gathers for worship. Later lines pray for the city’s peace. The joy is connected to shared worship and care for the community, not a competition about who attends most often.
