Bible verses for children

You can call on God honestly.

Psalm 145:18

A child sitting quietly by a bedroom window at early morning, hands relaxed together, speaking to God in prayer with a thoughtful trusting expression
Yahweh is near to all those who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

Psalm 145:18 · World English Bible Classic (WEB)

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

Being near describes a relationship of care, not a distance we can measure. Calling in truth means approaching God sincerely rather than putting on a show. A prayer can be short, uncertain or emotional and still be honest.

Tell God what you actually feel, even if the words are simple. If you do not feel comfort straight away, you can still seek support from a caring person.

Talk about it

What makes a prayer honest rather than just impressive?

Bible context & readings +

Psalm 145:14–21 describes God supporting, providing and hearing. Verse 18 emphasises sincere calling within that praise. It does not give a test based on feelings: a person who feels lonely or finds prayer difficult is not therefore outside God’s care.
