Bible verses for children
Sorrow does not have the last word.
Psalm 30:5

For his anger is but for a moment. His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning.

In simple words
What does this verse mean?
Night and morning picture a movement from tears towards joy. The singer also contrasts a moment of anger with lasting favour. This is a song of hope after rescue, not a clock telling us when to stop crying. Some sadness lasts much longer than one night.
When you miss someone or feel deeply sad, you can accept comfort without rushing to feel happy. A small moment of joy later does not mean the person or the sadness no longer matters.

Bible context & readings +
Psalm 30 gives thanks for help after distress and speaks of mourning turning to dancing. Verse 5 uses strong poetic contrasts to celebrate that change. It should not be used to set a deadline for grief or blame someone whose sadness continues.
