Bible verses for children

Make music with joy.

Psalm 33:3

A small intergenerational community joyfully singing together outdoors, one person plays a lyre, another a small tambourine, children join with open expressive faces
Sing to him a new song. Play skillfully with a shout of joy!

Psalm 33:3 · World English Bible Classic (WEB)

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

The psalm invites a new song and skilful playing. Music can be a thoughtful gift of praise, and skill grows through practice. You do not have to be the best singer or play an instrument to join in. Joyful attention matters more than putting on an impressive performance.

Make a short thank-you song using a tune you know or a rhythm you can clap. If you practise with someone, listen to their part as well as your own.

Talk about it

What would you like to thank God for in a song?

Bible context & readings +

Psalm 33 begins with singing and instruments, then praises God’s faithful word, creation and care. The new song responds to who God is. The invitation to play skilfully encourages care in music, not a test that keeps beginners from worship.
