Bible verses for children

Truthful words can protect people.

Psalm 34:13

A child openly showing an accidentally broken clay cup to a calm trusted adult, accepting conversation without fear
Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking lies.

Psalm 34:13 · World English Bible Classic (WEB)

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

Keeping our tongue from evil means choosing not to use speech to harm. Keeping our lips from lies means telling the truth. The verse is about how we use words, not about being silent all the time. Honest words and gentle words can belong together.

If you hear an unkind rumour, you do not need to repeat it. You can say you do not know whether it is true and speak to a trusted adult if someone needs help.

Talk about it

How can you be truthful without joining in hurtful talk?
