Bible verses for children

Resting with a prayer of trust.

Psalm 4:8

A child sleeping peacefully in a comfortable simple bed, moon and stars visible through a window, a trusted parent quietly nearby
In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you alone, Yahweh, make me live in safety.

Psalm 4:8 · World English Bible Classic (WEB)

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

The singer ends a troubled prayer by lying down in trust. Sleep means letting go of the day’s work and worries for a while. These words can help us ask God for peace at bedtime. Trust does not mean ignoring a real danger or being ashamed if sleep is difficult.

At bedtime, tell a carer about a worry and make sure you feel safe. Then you could pray this verse and settle with a familiar quiet routine.

Bible context & readings +

Psalm 4 begins with a request for help and speaks about distress, anger and trust. Its final verse is a personal expression of confidence in God. It is not a guarantee that faithful people never face danger or never need help with sleep.
