Bible verses for children
God’s rule amid the noise.
Psalm 46:10

In simple words
What does this verse mean?
“Be still” appears in a psalm about turmoil and war. It calls people to recognise God’s greatness and give up the struggle to stand above him. It is more than an instruction for children to sit quietly. A quiet moment may help us reflect, but it is not the whole meaning.
During an argument, pausing can help you remember that winning is not the most important thing. Ask for help finding a fair, peaceful next step.

Bible context & readings +
Psalm 46 speaks of shaking mountains, raging nations and God bringing wars to an end. Verse 10 belongs in that setting. It should not be used to silence someone who needs to report harm or to claim that God can only be known in quiet places.
