Who was Herod Antipas?
Herod Antipas ruled Galilee during the ministries of John the Baptist and Jesus. John challenged his conduct, and he imprisoned John. He is different from Herod the Great in the birth narratives.
The account of John's imprisonment shows a ruler responding badly to criticism. Having authority does not make someone free from responsibility for their choices.
