Who was Melchizedek?
Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of God Most High in Genesis. He met Abram, brought bread and wine, and blessed him. Later biblical passages reflect further on his priesthood.
Melchizedek's blessing directed attention to God rather than only to Abram's achievement. His brief appearance has significance beyond the number of verses about him.
