Who is Returning son?

The returning son is a character in Jesus' parable often called the lost or prodigal son. He leaves home, wastes his resources and later returns. He is not a named historical biography.

The son prepared to admit his wrong, while his father ran to welcome him. The story connects a changed direction with generous welcome, without saying the earlier harm did not matter.
