Printing tipsThe story behind the craft
Bible passage: Luke 15:11–32
A younger son leaves home and wastes his inheritance. When he returns, his father welcomes him with joy; the older son struggles to share the celebration, and the father goes out to him too.
Main takeaway: The father’s welcome invites both sons into restored relationship.
As you open the story book
Open the folds gradually, using the revealed sections to retell the account.
Follow leaving, hardship, returning and welcome. Include the older brother’s response so the story is not reduced to only one son’s mistake.
An adult can read one section while a younger child points to its picture. Older learners can close the book, retell it and reopen it to check the sequence.
Questions to explore
- Why did the younger son return?
- How did his father welcome him?
- Why was it difficult for the older brother to join the celebration?
