Meet Simeon in the temple.

Welcoming the infant Jesus.

Simeon in the temple: a quiet historically appropriate setting for Welcoming the infant Jesus, with simple understated contextual details; no invented dramatic event

Who was Simeon in the temple?

Simeon was a man in Jerusalem described as righteous and devout. He was waiting for Israel's consolation. Luke tells of him meeting the infant Jesus at the temple and praising God.

Simeon recognised hope in a small child and spoke to Mary and Joseph. His words included both joy and a warning of sorrow, rather than an uncomplicated future.
