Put it into practice

What does reconciliation look like?

Reconciliation means working to restore a damaged relationship. It can involve listening, admitting wrong, making changes and slowly rebuilding trust. Both people need room to take part freely, and safety comes first.

After an argument about a game, you might talk with an adult, listen to each other and agree on clearer rules before trying again.

What would need to change for people to feel ready to try again?

Verses to remember

“If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

A little context

Matthew 5:23–24 asks a person to take a damaged relationship seriously, even when bringing an offering. Reconciliation involves more than saying a quick sorry or forcing a hug.
