Bible verses for children

Creation through and for Christ.

Colossians 1:16

A beautiful panorama of creation: sunlit mountains, ocean, river, lush trees, flowers, birds in the sky, deer and small animals on the shore, fish visible in clear water
For by him all things were created in the heavens and on the earth, visible things and invisible things, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things have been created through him and for him.

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

The letter presents Christ in relation to all creation, including powers people cannot see. Nothing is beyond his significance. This calls readers towards worship rather than fascination with which power seems greatest.

Notice something in creation and reflect on gratitude rather than treating it as yours to misuse.

Talk about it

How can wonder at creation lead towards respectful care?

Bible context & readings +

Colossians 1:15–20 is a passage about Christ’s supremacy, creation and reconciliation. Verse 16 belongs within that whole portrait, not a list inviting children to speculate fearfully about invisible beings.
