Bible verses for children

Ask before you take.

Exodus 20:15

Moses: holding two plain stone tablets beside a mountain, no written characters
“You shall not steal.

Exodus 20:15 · World English Bible Classic (WEB)

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

Stealing means taking something that belongs to someone else without permission. This command teaches respect for other people and their belongings. Borrowing is different: you ask, receive permission and return what you borrowed as agreed.

If you put a classmate’s pencil in your bag without asking, you can return it and tell the truth. Saying sorry and putting things right are better than hiding it.

Talk about it

What should you do before borrowing something, and what should happen afterwards?
