Bible verses for children

God does not lure people into evil.

James 1:13

A child playing a board game notices an opportunity to secretly move an extra space, pauses and keeps their piece in the honest position while a friend watches with trust
Let no man say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God can’t be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

James distinguishes God’s goodness from temptation towards wrongdoing. We should not blame God as though he wants us to do harm. Noticing our desires can help us choose a different response.

When you want to take something unfairly, pause and ask for help with the desire.

Talk about it

How can noticing a tempting desire help you respond wisely?
