Bible verses for children

Stay connected like a branch.

John 15:5

Close view of a living grapevine with healthy branches visibly connected to its main stem and clusters of ripe grapes, green leaves in a sunny vineyard
I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

A branch receives life through its vine. Jesus uses that picture for remaining in relationship with him. Fruit represents the good that grows from this connection, rather than isolated self-sufficiency.

Make time for learning and practising Jesus’ words as you would care for growing plants.

Bible context & readings +

John 15:1–8 develops the vine image, with later verses connecting abiding to love and obedience. “Nothing” concerns fruitful discipleship apart from Jesus, not denying the ordinary abilities of other people.
