Bible verses for children

Choose the way that leads to life.

Matthew 7:13

A child and a trusted adult choose a clear narrow sunlit path through a safe garden, with a broader winding path visible elsewhere
“Enter in by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter in by it.

Matthew 7:13 · World English Bible Classic (WEB)

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

The gates and roads picture different directions for living. A popular path is not always a good one. Following Jesus can require a deliberate choice rather than simply following the crowd.

If a group makes an unkind choice, step back and ask what would lead to good.

Talk about it

When might the popular choice need questioning?

Bible context & readings +

Matthew 7:13–14 appears near the end of the Sermon on the Mount. The contrasting roads call for a response to Jesus’ teaching, not judging people’s worth by whether they belong to our group.
