Bible verses for children

Notice danger and choose safety.

Proverbs 22:3

A child pausing at a fork in a safe garden path and asking a trusted adult for guidance, attentive rather than frightened
A prudent man sees danger and hides himself; but the simple pass on, and suffer for it.

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

Prudent means alert and thoughtful. The wise person notices danger and seeks shelter instead of carrying on carelessly. Taking precautions can be a good choice, not a sign of cowardice or a lack of faith.

If a game moves into an unsafe place, stop and tell an adult. You can suggest a safer place rather than following the group.

Bible context & readings +

This proverb contrasts anticipating danger with passing on without care. It encourages practical judgement. It does not mean every injury was preventable or that a person who was harmed is to blame for failing to foresee it.
