Bible verses for children

Patient and full of mercy.

Psalm 103:8

A caring adult and child sit close together with an open Scripture book, adult listening patiently with open hands and child feeling known and welcomed
Yahweh is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness.

Psalm 103:8 · World English Bible Classic (WEB)

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

Merciful means responding to people with compassion. Gracious means giving kindness generously. Being slow to anger means not rushing into a harsh response. These words describe God’s character; patience does not mean that wrong actions do not matter.

When someone makes a small mistake, pause before reacting. You can explain what needs changing calmly and help them put it right instead of embarrassing them.

Talk about it

How can you respond firmly without being harsh?

Bible context & readings +

Psalm 103 praises God’s mercy and forgiveness. Verses 6–14 also speak of justice for oppressed people and compassion for human weakness. Read these ideas together: mercy is not indifference to harm, and patience is not permission for someone to keep hurting others.
