Bible verses for children

Keep good teaching close.

Psalm 119:11

A caring adult and two children attentively reading an open Bible together at a simple wooden table, one child following a line with a finger, thoughtful faces and a clay lamp nearby
I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

Psalm 119:11 · World English Bible Classic (WEB)

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

Hiding a word in the heart means treasuring and remembering it. The singer wants remembered teaching to shape actions and help avoid wrongdoing. Memorising can help, but understanding and practising the words matter more than reciting them quickly.

Choose a short teaching about kindness or honesty. Say it in your own words, then think of one situation where remembering it could change your choice.

Talk about it

When might a remembered teaching help you pause before acting?

Bible context & readings +

Psalm 119:9–16 describes seeking God, learning his instruction and delighting in it. Verse 11’s hidden treasure is inward learning, not a secret that must be kept from others. The goal is a life shaped by what has been learned.
