Bible verses for children

Every tear matters.

Psalm 56:8

A sad child with a tear on their cheek is gently listened to by a caring adult who holds a cloth, a small glass bottle on the nearby table subtly evokes counted tears
You count my wanderings. You put my tears into your container. Aren’t they in your book?

Psalm 56:8 · World English Bible Classic (WEB)

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

The singer asks God to remember his wandering and tears. A bottle and a book are pictures of keeping something precious and not forgetting it. The prayer tells us that suffering matters to God; it does not describe a literal container we must find.

When a friend cries, listen instead of saying their problem is too small. Remembering what troubled them and asking how they feel later can show that their sadness matters to you.

Talk about it

How could you show someone that you have remembered their worry?

Bible context & readings +

Psalm 56 is a prayer amid fear and opposition. The request about tears sits beside words of trust, including verse 3. The images express a longing to be known and remembered while the danger and sadness are still real.
