Bible verses for children

Show respect when we worship.

Psalm 95:6

An ancient Israelite family and neighbors approach a peaceful temple courtyard with grateful faces, a few kneeling quietly in prayer, warm light and simple stone architecture
Oh come, let’s worship and bow down. Let’s kneel before Yahweh, our Maker,

Psalm 95:6 · World English Bible Classic (WEB)

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

Bowing and kneeling are ways people can show respect to God their maker. The invitation is about a worshipful heart, not proving faith through one body position. People who cannot kneel can worship just as fully while sitting, standing or lying down.

Before a song or prayer, take a moment to notice what you are doing. You could sit comfortably and listen carefully, choosing a posture that works for your body.

Bible context & readings +

Psalm 95 begins with joyful singing and then invites the community to bow before its maker. The next verse describes the people as a flock in God’s care. Worship includes listening as well as movement; no single posture makes a person more valuable.
