Who was Anna?
Anna was a prophet who spent much time worshipping in the temple. Luke describes her long widowhood, fasting and prayer. She met the infant Jesus when Mary and Joseph brought him to the temple.
Anna gave thanks and spoke about the child to people waiting for redemption. Her voice joins Simeon's in recognising hope in the child's arrival.
