How to play
- Find the loose heads of grain and leave stones and leaves in the field.
- Drag grain into the baskets, counting the spaces and sharing equally when there is more than one basket.
- When the baskets are filled, drag the grain basket home to Naomi.
Learning through play
Children practise distinguishing grain from other objects, counting a collection and checking basket capacity. Older templates add equal sharing. Ruth’s homecoming offers a starting point for talking about gleaning and care for Naomi.
For Sunday school, homeschool or play at home. Younger children can play alongside an adult.
About the Bible story
Ruth gleaned in Boaz’s field and brought food home to Naomi. This gathering game follows that setting, with practice baskets and quantities.
