Make a paper palm leaf
You’ll needGreen paper, a pencil, scissors, a strip of card and glue.
For a simple Palm Sunday donkey activity, invite children to point out the donkey in the story illustration and move a folded-paper donkey along a road of paper palms. Explain that Jesus came as a gentle king.
Fold green paper in half and draw a long leaf shape along the fold.
Cut out the leaf, then make short slits from the edges towards the middle. Leave the centre joined.
Open the leaf and glue it to a card handle. Wave it beside your banner as you retell Jesus’ arrival.
For the grown-ups

Which crafts help children explore the Palm Sunday donkey?
The Jesus-enters-Jerusalem story camera and the illustrated story are useful starting points. Children can retell Jesus’ arrival, noticing the donkey, the crowd and the palms. Check each product preview for its exact contents.
What does Hosanna mean?
Hosanna comes from an appeal meaning “save, please.” The Palm Sunday crowd used it in a joyful welcome and praise. Explain the word simply and read John 12:13 together.
