Bible verses for children
Worship belongs to God.
Exodus 20:3

“You shall have no other gods before me.

In simple words
What does this verse mean?
God tells Israel not to worship other gods alongside him. The people have been rescued from slavery, and this command calls them to be faithful to their rescuer. For Christians, it is an invitation to give God their worship and loyalty.
You can make time to pray and learn about God while treating neighbours with different beliefs kindly. Being faithful to your own worship does not require insulting someone else.

Bible context & readings +
The Ten Commandments begin with God reminding Israel that he brought them out of Egypt. Exodus 20:3 belongs to that covenant relationship. The following verses speak about idols and worship; the command is not permission to mistreat people of another faith.
