Bible verses for children

Wisdom is worth seeking.

Proverbs 2:6

A child asks an older mentor for guidance with an open book between them, both listen thoughtfully at a simple shaded table
For Yahweh gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

Wisdom is knowing how to live and choose well, not simply knowing many facts. The verse names God as its source. The surrounding teaching also calls us to listen, ask and search, so receiving wisdom includes being willing to learn.

Before a difficult choice, ask for help and listen carefully. Think about which option is honest and caring instead of choosing only what is easiest.

Talk about it

Bible context & readings +

Proverbs 2 begins with an invitation to seek understanding like hidden treasure. Verse 6 explains why that search matters: wisdom comes from God. It is not a promise that an answer will arrive without listening, learning or reflection.
