A promise. A surprising message.
An angel told Mary that she would have a son named Jesus. Mary listened, asked a question and trusted God. Advent gives us time to listen and wonder about the promised Saviour.

For the grown-ups
A little help with Advent.
Hope, peace, joy and love offer a simple four-week Advent pattern. Candle colours, readings and the order of themes vary between churches; follow your community’s tradition.
What is a simple Advent craft for children?
A paper wreath with four candles gives children something to add to each week. Paper flames make it easy to mark the passing weeks without using real fire.
How is Advent different from Christmas?
Advent is a season of preparation and waiting before Christmas. These activities focus on the weeks of waiting; the Christmas page celebrates Jesus’ birth with the Nativity story and Christmas making.
Must every Advent wreath use the same candle colours?
No. Candle colours and readings vary by tradition. Adapt the paper wreath and the order of themes to match the church or family you are making with.
