Matthew 11:20–30
Jesus speaks severe words to towns that did not repent after seeing his mighty works, then turns to thanksgiving to the Father and an invitation for weary people to come to him and learn from him.
Matthew 12:1–8; Mark 2:23–28; Luke 6:1–5
In this lesson, children will trace what happened when Jesus’ disciples picked grain on the Sabbath, hear the Pharisees’ complaint, and listen carefully to Jesus’ answer about mercy, need, and his authority.
Matthew 12:9–14; Mark 3:1–6; Luke 6:6–11
In this lesson, children will follow what happened when Jesus met a man with a withered hand in the synagogue on the Sabbath. They will notice the different choices people made and what those choices showed.

In this lesson, children will read Matthew’s account carefully and compare a few details from Mark without blending them together. They will sequence Matthew 15:21–28, notice the woman’s words and replies, and observe how Jesus answers.

In this lesson, children will follow the order of events as Jesus cares for a large crowd. They will notice his compassion, the disciples’ question, and the outcome when everyone eats and is filled.
Matthew 16:24–28; Mark 8:34–38; Luke 9:23–27
Jesus tells people what it means to come after him. These verses teach that following Jesus includes denying self, taking up the cross, and treating life as more important than gaining the whole world.
Matthew 17:22–23; Mark 9:30–32; Luke 9:43–45
Jesus told his disciples something very important more than once. In these verses, he says clearly that he will be handed over, killed, and then rise again, while his disciples struggle to understand and respond.
Matthew 17:24–27
This lesson helps children follow the short account of Peter, Jesus and the question about paying the didrachma. They will put the account in order, notice Jesus’ choice, and talk about what this passage shows about Jesus and wise actions.
Matthew 18:1–9; Matthew 18:15–20; Mark 9:33–43; Mark 9:45; Mark 9:47–50; Luke 9:46–50
Jesus answers questions about greatness by pointing to humility, service and welcome. He also speaks very seriously about causing others to stumble, and he gives careful steps for dealing with sin in a way that seeks restoration and peace.
Matthew 18:21–35
Peter asks Jesus how many times he should forgive a brother who sins against him. Jesus answers with a parable that helps children see the size of mercy received and the mercy they should show to others.
Matthew 19:1–12; Mark 10:1–12
Jesus is tested with a question about divorce. In both Matthew and Mark, he answers by pointing back to the beginning, speaks seriously about divorce and remarriage, and then gives a careful reply to his disciples.
Matthew 19:16–30; Mark 10:17–31; Luke 18:18–30
Jesus is asked a serious question about eternal life. In this lesson, children trace the account in order, notice the man’s choice, hear Jesus’ words about riches and God’s power, and consider what it means to follow him.
Matthew 20:1–16
Jesus told a parable about workers hired at different times who all received the same pay. This lesson helps children notice the complaint in the story and explain what the parable says about the master’s goodness and the Kingdom of Heaven.
Matthew 20:17–19; Mark 10:32–34; Luke 18:31–34
Jesus tells the twelve what will happen in Jerusalem before it happens. In these verses, he speaks clearly about suffering, death and rising again, while the disciples still do not understand what he means.
Matthew 20:20–28; Mark 10:35–45
Jesus answers a request for honour by teaching his disciples what greatness looks like. Children will follow the account in Matthew and Mark, notice the choices people make, and hear Jesus point them towards serving others.
Matthew 20:29–34; Mark 10:46–52; Luke 18:35–43
These Gospel accounts show blind men near Jericho calling out to Jesus for mercy. Children will trace what happened in each account, notice how people responded, and see how the healing led to following Jesus and praising God.
